Jamie can't remember a time in her life that she did not receive bodywork or practice yoga. Even so, her road to becoming a massage therapist had some bumps. As a child, she was a synchronized swimmer who transitioned into the world of dance, where she had a wonderful career, both performing and teaching. That discipline allowed her to move into the world of stunt performing. Everything changed after a stunt went wrong and left her with painful injuries that required her to relearn how to move her body almost from the beginning. During her rehabilitation, massage and bodywork helped when traditional Western medicine didn't. When she completed her rehab, she decided to become a massage therapist to help others on their journeys.
Now in her second decade as a massage therapist, her approach is decidedly client-centered, carefully listening to each client and what his or her body is saying. She wants her clients to be comfortable at all times and to know that they are being heard. The treatment is about them and helping them achieve their goals. Jamie's bodywork modalities include deep tissue/specific work, CranioSacral Therapy, and Swedish massage. She specializes in working with cancer and PTSD patients and survivors, as well as adolescents (provided a parent is in the room during the treatment). When she's not working, Jamie enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. You can typically find her dancing, singing, practicing yoga, or just enjoying the outdoors. |
